Creative Learning for Primary School Pupils

SoundSteps is an innovative, music-led learning programme designed to introduce primary school pupils (Ages 5–11) to music while strengthening their reading, phonics, writing, communication, confidence, and emotional development.

The programme uses rhythm, melody, storytelling, and creative expression to turn core learning into memorable musical experiences. By linking literacy and wellbeing to music, SoundSteps helps children learn faster, retain more, and feel more confident in the classroom.

It is fully scalable and adaptable for:

  • Mainstream pupils

  • SEND learners

  • EAL learners

  • Neurodiverse children

  • Socially anxious pupils

  • High-attaining pupils

How the Programme Works

Inspiring Learning Through Music

SoundSteps introduces pupils to core literacy and personal development skills through engaging, music-led activities.

Each session combines rhythm, storytelling, and creative expression to support reading, phonics, and writing in a way that feels enjoyable and accessible. By embedding learning within music, children become more focused, motivated, and confident in their ability to participate and succeed.

Building Confidence and Emotional Wellbieng

Alongside academic development, the programme places strong emphasis on nurturing pupils’ emotional wellbeing. Through group activities, performance opportunities, and reflective exercises, children learn to express their thoughts and feelings in positive ways.

This supportive environment helps build self-esteem, resilience, and strong social skills, enabling pupils to develop healthy relationships and a positive attitude towards learning.

Structured Support with Lasting Impact

SoundSteps is delivered through a clear, structured framework that aligns with the National Curriculum and adapts to the needs of each school. Facilitators work closely with teachers to ensure sessions complement classroom learning and support individual progress.

Regular assessment, feedback, and celebration of achievements ensure that pupils continue to grow academically, creatively, and personally throughout the programme.
